Omar Govea

Omar Govea was born in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to the Rio Grande Valley at the age of seven. He graduated from Edinburg North High School and joined the United States Marine Corps at 17, where he developed strong discipline and leadership.

Omar spent 11 years in the oil and gas industry before earning his Texas Real Estate license in June 2020. In 2023, he joined Big Realty while continuing the legacy of his family-owned business, Tex Mex Food Mart. A committed entrepreneur and community leader, he is a graduate of Edinburg Leadership Class XXXV and Texas Real Estate Leadership Class I, and is currently part of RGV Partnership Leadership Class XI.

He was named Ambassador of the Year in 2024 and serves on the City of Edinburg Zoning Board of Adjustment, the Edinburg Chamber Leadership Steering Committee, and the Wonder Warrior Project of the RGV. He is married to Brenda Govea and is the proud father of three daughters: Arantza, Ximena, and Sarah.
